It’s that time of year again, time to carve pumpkins, start baking, and trick or treating.










If you’re hosting a Halloween party or sending the kids to school with cupcakes this year, this is the perfect cupcake recipe for you. I LOVE baking for the holidays and I’m always looking to change up traditional recipes. These are great for both kids and adults.


First things first, the Halloween decor to make these well, Halloween cupcakes. To be honest these cupcakes could be eaten any time of the year. So, feel free to make these for any holiday, day of the week, or anytime you just want to eat a great cupcake.

I highly recommend you use a mixer for this recipe. It is possible to make it without one, but you’re hands and arms are going to get a pretty nice workout, especially when it comes to the frosting. I’m currently using the¬†Artisan Design Kitchen Aid Mixer in the color Ocean Drive.


You will also need a muffin tin for your cupcakes.

After you get all of your tools set up gather all of your ingredients, listed below.



Ingredients include:


Whole Milk

Vanilla Extract

All-Purpose Flour


Baking Powder

Baking Soda


Cocoa Powder









You can also add other decorations to your cupcakes! I added candy eyeballs to mine to have a mix of 2 different cupcakes.


Halloween Spice Cupcakes

Cake Mix

  • 1 3/4 CUP All Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 CUP Cocoa Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 CUP Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 TBS Cinnamon
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 CUP Milk
  • 1/2 CUP Vegetable Oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 CUP Hot Water


  • 4 CUPS Confectioners Sugar
  • 1 CUP Salted Butter
  • 1 TBS Cinnamon
  • 1 TBS Vanilla
  • 1 1/2 TBS Whole Milk



    • -Mix together the first 7 ingredients in your mixer on the lowest setting for 2 minutes. Make sure everything is mixed in well (scrape the bottom and sides). 
    • - After all of the dry ingredients are thoroughly mixed, add in the remaining ingredients. Mix on medium for another 2-3 minutes. 


  1. - Soften butter and mix in with the confectioner's sugar and the remaining ingredients. Start on low setting for one minute and move up to the highest until the frosting is clump free.
